Bespoke and Fully loaded users will be provided with a login and password which will give an individual ‘Administrative’ access to their TargetstoProspects system.

DIY users have been shown how to create this same type of ‘Sales Manager’ access to the system.

From now on, we will call this access Sales Manager access.

There are two types of user for TargetstoProspects – ‘Sales Manager’ and ‘User’ access.

Sales Manager access gives a user the ability to:

Create, edit and delete other sales managers

Create, edit and delete standard users

Read, edit and delete all personalised pages created by any user on the system

Standard user access gives a user the ability to:

Read, edit and delete their own posts only

Creating a new user

To create a new user, firstly ensure you are logged in as a sales manager. You will then see the New User option available at the top of the menu:

Click ‘Add New’. You will then be taken to the New User screen.

Fill in the details as required. Note that the new user will be sent their username and password by email, unless you untick the box shown.

Finally – choose from the drop down whether the user should be a Standard User or have Sales Manager access.

Clicking ‘Add User’ will add the user to the database and they will be able to login immediately.

Note also that users can also register automatically at the login page to your installation.

[private]

Creating a peronal page for a Target using the TargetstoProspects system couldn’t be easier. It is intuitive and will literally take about 30 seconds to create a page if you already know what message you would like to include.

The place to start is by selecting Pages > Add New…

This will bring up the Add New Page screen.

Page setup

The first thing to note is that the red boxes can be dragged and moved around the screen (like the BBC homepage) to get the layout which best suits you… See the examples below.

Option 1

Option 2

So, let’s create our first page.

Simply type in the name of your target in the Target Box. The system then automatically creates a weblink you can then send on to your target. In ACME’s case, the link would be www.acmeshowcase.com/richard-fox. VERY intriguing to Richard Fox, if he is considering ACME services…

Note that the ‘Permalink’ or URL which your Target will receive automatically appears underneath with the Target’s name at the end of the URL – this adds the intrigue factor to the Target. Note you are able to edit that link to something other than /the-targets-name, by pressing the edit button and typing in a link of your choosing. We recommend not doing this.

It’s now time to write a short and sharp personal message to your target, which will form part of the webpage they will visit. Remember you will be sending their link in an email / letter and so think about which message you’d like to put on delivery mechanism before you write the text for this page. The two pieces of copy should be different. Go to great lengths to make this web message personal. Even though we are creating somthing personal, if it looks like boilerplate, it will be dismissed.

Once you’ve created your message on paper – let’s add it to the system.

Underneath the Target’s name box, there’s a space for body copy. Anything you add here will be added to the webpage. Note if you can use Word, you can use our editor. There are options to add HTML including hyperlinks and images here should you choose to as well…

We strongly suggest you add no hyperlinks, images or anything else to distract the target at this stage of the process. You want them to read your words, and almost certainly be guided to the video underneath.

If it is appropriate – you can of course add formatting and/or other elements, using the toolbar. If you are familiar with Microsoft Office, this shouldn’t be too taxing. One word of advice – best to leave the Text format drop down as ‘Paragraph’. This will ensure the page looks correct. Let your chosen template do the work of formatting.

The final piece of this personalised page for most of our users will be to add a greeting to the Target. Again – this really does stand out and make them feel ’special’… You do this in the personalised field area…

Selecting the correct template

Irrespective of which package you’ve chosen – you will have a system with different page templates available to use. Having different templates means that you can create pages which are even more relevant.

For example, you could have a standard template which introduces targets to your corporate proposition, another one which show them how they could become a partner or one which introduces them to both concepts. You could have a template for four different products you wish to target people with. Each product page could contain its own video.

Simply select a template from the list, and the personal webpage will display as appropriate.

There are no limit to the number of templates you can create or have made for you.

So – that shouldn’t have taken you more than a minute to produce that page. It’s time now to preview it….

You only get one chance to make a first impression

It’s important of course that you check your page carefully before sending your Target the link. You can do this by previewing the page. You can then come back to the editor to make any final changes.

In addition, if you feel your page is particularly sensitive, then there is an option to password the page so that nobody can view it (aside from you and the administrator of your system) unless they enter the correct password. You can set this (and change it) here.

Do note that no pages will ever be indexable by search engines.

In the few years our parent company has been using this system, we’ve received an almost 100% click through rate on the dozens and dozens of pages we’ve set up. Occasionally someone doesn’t click and in some cases, we know that they didn’t even open the email… there’s only so much this system can do.

Once you’ve created your page, click Publish. Note that when the page refreshes, that page is now live on the Internet. The Publish box then changes accordingly. If you go ahead and make any changes/edits to that page, you will need to click ‘Update Page’ (shown below) for the changes to be made. You can see that this is subtlely different to Publish, because the page is already published.

It’s always good to view the page one last time. You can do this by clicking View Page or typing in the URL manually should you choose in your browser’s address bar.

Once you’ve clicked view page, and you’ve seen it come up in your browser, within a few seconds, you should also be getting another useful test of the system… Assuming you are a registered user of your system and aren’t inputting data for a colleague, then check your email (press send/receive in Outlook) and you should find an email has arrived telling you that someone (you in this case!) has looked at the page indicated in the Subject line. Check your junk mail, just in case.

Once the page has appeared and you are happy with it, copy and paste the URL from your browser into the letter or email you are going to send to your Target. And remember, keep it snappy and make sure that weblink is nice and prominent.

You can then click back on the Pages>Edit menu to see all of your pages.

[private]

When a Target clicks one of your pages, as we’ve seen, the user who created the page will receive an email alert. This is helpful to know when to follow up, or when to prompt the Target again if the link has not been clicked.

Alerts are sent to the email address which is associated with the user when they first registered on the system. A Sales Manager user can edit existing users on the system if an email address changes.

There’s little to say on this subject, other than you could have a situation where a colleague is setting up pages on behalf of a sales person. The colleague can either login with the sales person’s ID, in which case alerts will still be sent to the email address associated with that ID.

Alternatively, they could use their own login and providing the sales person was a registered Sales Manager user, they can choose for the sales person to be alerted as opposed to themselves, using the Page Author drop down.

[/private]

[private]

Regardless of the TargetstoProspects service you’ve purchased, all are provided with a handful of out of the box templates for you to adjust and potentially add your logo to etc. Bespoke and Fully loaded customers will almost certainly never need to use them as you will have custom designed templates. This information may still prove useful to you if you’d like to tweak what was built for you over time.

Now you know how to access your hosting space – on your server, navigate to YOUR DOMAIN/wp-content/themes/default.

The directory will look like this:

In that directory you will see a number of files, which are highlighted below.

blue.php corporate.php orange.php red.php stripy.php

These are the template files you will see in your drop down menu when you create a new page. Bespoke and Fully Loaded customers will have other template files in there, designed bespokely for you.

If you download one of those templates to your hard drive, by double clicking it within the FTP programe, you will then be able to edit it.

The file itself is what’s called a .php file. It is made up essentially of HTML code, with some PHP code within it to bring in the personalised elements on to the page, as generated by the TargetstoProspects system.

Adding your company logo to a template NEXT>>
